At last I can see the date at a glance without glasses, thanks to the magnifying lens.
Very good material quality and finishing on the dial, hands, bezel, case, and the solid bracelet. Especially the 316L steel case, which is polished around the perimeter, with premium brushing on the steel of the lugs.
Perhaps the best quality in a diver that Festina has released so far.
It has its own character, and does not resemble any Japanese competitor, nor anything from high-end Swiss watchmaking.
Screw-down oversized crown, with a good feel.
Quick bracelet adjustment to be worn over a diving suit.
It looks larger on the wrist than 41mm, has a chunky case and is fine for wrists with a circumference of 18 cm and above. By the way, the wrist in the photos is 19 cm in circumference, 6 cm wide.
Very good readability of the time in dim light, and throughout the night, with a 10-second charge of the dial from the phone flashlight.
CONS.
We will have trouble if we want to find a 21mm rubber strap for it. However, you can also fit a 20mm and a 22mm, with the first one showing without the spring bar being even slightly bothersome. I tried 2 NATO straps I had, 20 and 22. It moves away from the elegant style, and gives it a sporty, dynamic character.
Their drawback is, (let's say that too) after a dive they take a long time to dry on the wrist, so either you have a spare NATO strap, or you keep the bracelet, or you put on rubber, which dries instantly.
Conclusion
An honest diving watch, with a low price for what it offers, from a company dating back to the 1900s, that looks like nothing else, with high build quality and finishing, a tough Japanese simple movement with a three-year battery life.
Only.... I laugh like this!!! that 13 days later, without being submerged, the black ring of the bezel with the numbers came off. Was it glued with paper glue?? Apparently a failure of the double-sided tape that sticks the ring to the bezel. What can I say! Anyway, GEMINI, who knows everything, told me that it has been reported on international watch forums that this has happened even to very expensive diver watches. I can't condemn the brand. I will send it to the dealer for a free repair.
