Description

“I believe –although I am not a politician, nor do I want to be– that this will bring war; and you will hear sooner that the legions now in France have landed in our fearless Britain than that they paid a penny. Our patriots are people more industrious since Julius Caesar smiled at their idleness, but he found it worth frowning at their courage: their tactics with the wings of their audacity will now teach their masters that they are a people who fare better than anyone in the world.”

Thus, Shakespeare, through the mouth of one of his heroes, tells us that England no longer wishes to be a tributary.
