Many authors have dealt with the travel or metaphysical development of the Odyssey, giving the countries that, in their opinion, Odysseus approached or characterizing the journey as the journey of our Soul depending on their knowledge and beliefs.
We preferred to take a different approach to the journey, which clarifies the names mentioned by Homer, connecting them with the stops of Odysseus and the description of the events he faced at each stop and the initiatory knowledge he received. Our experience is that Homer knew exactly what he was describing, providing clear information to the sailors of that period about what they would face on their journey while also highlighting the ancient knowledge they could gain at each stop or the dangers they should avoid.
We decided to include complete references from ancient travel writers as well as dissertations that have been presented to help you, just as we have been helped, to approach the events of the Homeric journey and for the excerpts to serve as your guide in your own studies.
