Description

The first exhibition curated by Peter Lindbergh, shortly before his untimely death, "Untold Stories" at the Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf, served as a blank canvas for his liberated vision and creativity. Given complete artistic freedom, Lindbergh curated an uninterrupted collection that sheds unexpected light on his colossal work. This book offers an extensive, authentic look into his highly personal collection. Lindbergh's renowned images have left an indelible mark on contemporary culture and the history of photography. Here, the photographer experiments with his work and tells new stories, remaining true to his vocabulary. Through iconic and never-before-published images, he challenges his own depictions and presents personal moments with personalities who were close to him for years, such as Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Robin Wright, Jessica Chastain, Naomi Campbell, Charlotte Rampling, and many others. This volume includes more than 100 photographs—many of them unpublished or little-known, often commissioned by monthly fashion magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Interview, Rolling Stone, W Magazine, or the Wall Street Journal. An extensive conversation between Lindbergh and the director of Kunstpalast, Felix Krämer, as well as a tribute by his close friend Wim Wenders, offer fresh approaches to the creation of the collection. The result is an intimate personal statement from Lindbergh about his work.
