The treatise of Galen "On My Opinions" (Περὶ τῶν ἑαυτῷ δοκούντων) is most likely the last work composed by the great physician from Pergamum (129 – approximately 216 AD).
It is a synthetic summary of his fundamental positions regarding the creation of the world and the nature and function of the soul and body.
As the culmination of thorough empirical research conducted over a long career of around sixty years, this work has rightly been regarded as Galen's "philosophical legacy."
Offering extensive commentary and a modern Greek translation of the latest edition of the ancient text, as well as an informative introduction to the life, work, and thoughts of its author, the present book delves into the depths of Galenic medicine, natural philosophy, and scientific methodology, illuminating important aspects of the creative correlation between medicine and philosophy in the ancient world.
