Description

An Arsenal hero, an undefeated defender and now a distinguished analyst, is an icon of British football. His story. His words. The inspiring official and first memoir of the football legend, as well as his latest thoughts on life, leadership, and love.

According to the Daily Mail, he is 'tough as his tackles,' while the Mail on Sunday describes him as 'explosive'. Gary Lineker says the book is full of 'wonderful stories'. Over more than three revolutionary decades, Martin Keown played football at a high level, was present at the birth of the Premier League, and was a central player in one of the best teams of all time - Wenger's Arsenal. But why did he always feel like he was playing on the edge?

In his autobiography, Keown narrates how, as the son of Irish working-class parents growing up in a hostile England during the turmoil of the 1970s, he managed to become an automatic and permanent choice for the team and the country. Despite departing from normality, he remained relentless while many others gave up.

During his career, Keown played alongside some of the best footballers in the world - like Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Tony Adams, David Beckham - and under inspiring coaches – Arsène Wenger, Kevin Keegan, Sven-Goran Eriksson, Howard Kendall. He was the backbone of the undefeated Arsenal team that won the 2003/4 Premier League title without losing a single match.

Known as “The Rash” by friends and opponents due to the intensity of his marking, Keown always played as if he had more to prove. But his teammates knew he was fast, skillful, tough, and loyal, a leader on and off the field. Fearless also, as you will discover - he doesn't hold back his words.

On The Edge is the story of one of Arsenal's greatest - a man whose commitment placed him at the center of the pitch, an area he dominated like almost no other footballer of his generation.
