The work of Macrobius, a Neoplatonic philosopher of the 4th and 5th centuries A.D., "Commentary on the Dream of Scipio," represents a unique endeavor regarding the mystical Platonic and Neoplatonic tradition and philosophy. This was the work that served as the primary source of knowledge and inspiration for philosophers of the West and the East, especially during the critical years of the Middle Ages, leading to the great wonder of the Renaissance and the significant turn of humanity back towards Greek culture.

In the chapters of this voluminous work, among other things, the myth of Er and its continuation in the dream of Scipio, the types of dreams and their five categories, the concept of numerical "completeness," and the analysis of all numbers are discussed. Additionally, the union of elements according to the Timaeus of Plato, the special significance of the number seven, ontological, astronomical (lunar cycles: solar and celestial), tidal cycles, cycles of human life (development of the embryo, post-birth period, childhood and youth, maturity, and old age), human anatomy, the mystery of dreams and omens, and who can interpret them and how are examined.

The celestial abode of the soul, the views of ancient theologians about the Hereafter, how it operates, and what is there. The journey of the soul, descending from the highest part of the universe, through the celestial spheres, to the lower part, in which we live. Why the universe is called the temple of God. How the creation of human souls occurs, and why and how the human mind is of the same nature as that of the stars.

The celestial spheres, our Galaxy, and how it functions, the zodiac cycle, and its constellations. The ecliptic, parallels, colures, meridians, and the horizon. The Pythagorean harmony of the spheres and planetary intervals. How the Divine used numbers for the composition of the Soul of the Universe. Correspondence of the zones of earth and sky. The Great Year. How and why the soul is immortal and self-moving. Definition of immortality and movement. Three Platonic arguments that prove the immortality and self-movement of the soul.

In concluding his narrative, Macrobius encourages us to follow the paths he opened through this Revealing book, keeping our souls unblemished and continuing our upward journey towards the ultimate Theosis and likeness.
