In the present 27th volume of the Library of Land Law, titled “Influences of Ottoman Land Law on the National Cadastre Law,” the presentations from the event organized by the Interdepartmental Master's Program of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki “Cadastre: Legal, Technical, and Environmental Dimensions” are included, which took place on June 22, 2024, in Istanbul.
The theme was chosen due to the necessity of reviewing the evolution of property rights from the land ownership system of the newly established Greek State to that of the National Cadastre. This is one of the fundamental and challenging issues in the field of cadastral and property law.
Specifically, in the first part of the volume, the focus is on Ottoman lands guided by the case law of the Supreme Court and international courts, while the second part addresses substantive law issues related to the regime of Ottoman lands. The third part highlights procedural law issues that gain particular importance within the regime of Ottoman lands.
Finally, in an appendix to the volume, the reader will find the text of the Ottoman Land Law, which is not addressed in any 20th-century book, monograph, or study, nor in legal information banks.
