Unfortunately, it is a repetitive, impractical philosophy in my opinion, which is 100% the author's personal interpretation of the Montessori method, in which she clearly introduces foreign ideas of unknown origin. Yes, it contains some interesting thoughts, but it is aimed at affluent parents (although it claims the opposite) with endless time and no responsibilities.
Something very basic is that it lacks purpose. It says it does not aim to make the child achieve goals earlier, but to achieve them in their own time. Nevertheless, it speaks with an extremely emphatic tone, criminalizing human intervention and parental instinct, making you believe that you hinder your child's development if you set any reasonable boundaries.
I'm sorry, but I want my child to need me, just as I need them, my partner, and my parents.
In summary. If you are an educator, midwife, or babysitter without children, read it. If you are a new parent like us, only read the introduction. Trust me, you won't miss anything. If you insist, read it, but ignore all the (non) practical recommendations.

Edit: My baby is about to turn one, and this year I realized that I read it for nothing, all these philosophies are just a bunch of theories.. obviously, no one asks permission from the baby to change or pick them up, come on.

There are many books about Montessori philosophy, from this perspective it is very good because it gathers all the information in one text. Personally, however, I would prefer to have more about interpersonal relationships and less about how to organize the house.

If you want your child to have no limits and not need you, this is the book you should read.
The introduction is wonderful. It deeply moved me. The rest of the book could be condensed into about 20 pages, or maybe even just one sentence: Observe the baby before intervening. Unfortunately, it is a repetitive, impractical philosophy in my opinion, which is 100% the author's personal interpretation of the Montessori method, in which she clearly introduces foreign ideas of unknown origin. Yes, it contains some interesting thoughts, but it is aimed at affluent parents (although it claims the opposite) with endless time and no responsibilities.
Something very basic is that it lacks purpose. It says it does not aim to make the child achieve goals earlier, but to achieve them in their own time. Nevertheless, it speaks with an extremely emphatic tone, criminalizing human intervention and parental instinct, making you believe that you hinder your child's development if you set any reasonable boundaries.
I'm sorry, but I want my child to need me, just as I need them, my partner, and my parents.
In summary. If you are an educator, midwife, or babysitter without children, read it. If you are a new parent like us, only read the introduction. Trust me, you won't miss anything. If you insist, read it, but ignore all the (non) practical recommendations.

Η εισαγωγή είναι υπέροχη. Με συγκίνησε βαθιά. Όλο το υπόλοιπο βιβλίο θα μπορούσε να συμπτυχθεί σε καμία 20αρια σελίδες. Ή ίσως και σε μόνο μία φράση: Παρατηρήστε το μωρό πριν παρέμβετε. Δυστυχώς, είναι ένα επαναλαμβανόμενο, ανεφάρμοστο φιλοσόφημα, που κατά τη γνώμη μου αποτελεί 100% προσωπική ερμηνεία της συγγραφέως για τη μέθοδο Μοντεσσόρι, στην οποία εμφανώς εισάγει ξένες ιδέες αγνώστου προέλευσης. Ναι, περιέχει κάποιες ενδιαφέρουσες σκέψεις, αλλά απευθύνεται σε εύπορους γονείς (αν και υποστηρίζει το αντίθετο) με άπειρο χρόνο και καθόλου ευθύνες.
Κάτι πολύ βασικό είναι ότι στερείται σκοπού. Λέει ότι δεν αποσκοπεί στο να κάνει το παιδί να επιτύχει στόχους νωρίτερα, αλλά να τους πετύχει στον δικό του χρόνο. Παρ' όλα αυτά, μιλάει με εξαιρετικά εμφατικό ύφος, εγκληματοποιώντας την ανθρώπινη παρέμβαση και το γονεϊκό ένστικτο, κάνοντας σε να πιστεύεις ότι εμποδίζεις την ανάπτυξη του παιδίου σου αν θέτεις κάποια λογικά όρια.
Λυπάμαι, αλλά θέλω το παιδί μου να με έχει ανάγκη, όπως κι εγώ έχω ανάγκη αυτό, τη σύντροφό μου και τους γονείς μου.
Συνοψίζοντας. Αν είστε εκπαιδευτικός, μαία ή baby sitter χωρίς παιδιά, διαβάστε το. Αν είστε νέος γονέας όπως εμείς, διαβάστε μόνο την εισαγωγή. Πιστέψτε με, δε θα χάσετε τίποτα. Αν επιμένετε, διαβάστε το, αλλά αγνοήστε όλες τις (μη) πρακτικές εισηγήσεις.
Interesting book if you are interested in Montessori philosophy. Quite explanatory, although in some cases I would say repetitive. Some things seem too theoretical and not so applicable.
Edit: My baby is about to turn one, and this year I realized that I read it for nothing, all these philosophies are just a bunch of theories.. obviously, no one asks permission from the baby to change or pick them up, come on.
Ενδιαφέρον βιβλίο αν σε ενδιαφέρει η μοντεσσοριανη φιλοσοφία. Αρκετά επεξηγηματικό, αν και σε κάποιες περιπτώσεις θα έλεγα επαναλαμβανόμενο. Κάποια πράγματα μου φαίνονται πολύ θεωρητικά και όχι τόσο εφαρμόσιμα.
Edit: το μωρό μου κοντεύει να γίνει ενός και μέσα σ αυτό το χρόνο συνειδητοποίησα ότι τζάμπα το διάβασα, όλα αυτά τα φιλοσοφικά είναι ένα μάτσο θεωρίες.. προφανώς και δεν κάθεται κανένας να ζητάει άδεια από το μωρό για να το αλλάξει ή να το σηκώσει δηλαδή ημαρτον.
The book is a good introduction to the Montessori pedagogical method. It helps you understand the basic principles of the method, but not to delve deeper into it.
Το βιβλίο είναι μια καλή εισαγωγή στη παιδαγωγική μέθοδο της Μοντεσσορι. Σε βοηθάει να καταλάβεις βασικές αρχές της μεθόδου όχι όμως να εμβαθύνεις σε αυτή.
