Ithakua, son of Hastur and Lord of the Winds, is a powerful Great Ancient God; a terrifying giant who hunts the frozen expanses and annihilates anyone he encounters in his pursuit to free the other Great Ancient Gods. He has the power to summon and control snowstorms and violent blizzards. When Ithakua is chosen as an Ancient God, a snowstorm token is placed on the board, forcing any investigator entering it to reach their stress level to the maximum and become unable to heal. As Ithakua approaches, the snowstorm intensifies, increasing pressure and damage while hindering movement.
The Shandak are giant birds with horse heads that serve the Ancient Gods. These creatures are extremely resilient, and their toughness makes it difficult to eliminate them. The Shandak, having a long-standing relationship with Ithakua, have learned to exploit the violent snowstorms to enter our world. Whether near a snowstorm, they are at their most terrifying form, forcing investigators to suffer from stress before they can attack or be attacked. Consequently, the Shandak continuously reduce the stress of investigators, limiting their ability to manage the dice throws.
