Description

The third novel in The Lightlark Saga series, a New York Times bestseller, by acclaimed author and #BookTok sensation, Alex Aster.

Love kills kingdoms… In the Grim castle of Nightshade, Isla is shaken after a fierce battle and the devastating truths that were revealed. Her future—and the fate of the world—now rely on a heart split in two. The Isla of the past, who fell in love with the lord of Nightshade, struggles to resist feelings she considers betrayal. The Isla of the present, who has seen the destruction her powers can cause, will do anything to save Lightlark and its king.

As the line between enemy and friend is tested, Isla is more desperate than ever to understand her vision's last prophecy and change her grim fate. But a storm is coming. And with it, a well-hidden evil greater than anything the kingdoms have faced.

With the clock ticking on her fate and the survival of two rival kingdoms depending on her wounded heart, Isla Crown will either save the world—or destroy it.

Aila is still trying to recover from the successive truths that were served to her in one night. Besides that, she also holds fate in her hands or rather… in her heart…
How many pieces can your heart be broken into… Heart-eater?

Those who know me, know that Lightlark is one of my favorite series and that’s why my hands were literally shaking for the sequel in this book but I came to be disappointed EPICALLY!!!

    Yes, you heard right
Unfortunately, this book didn’t draw me in, nor did it keep me interested at all. I was trying tooth and nail to finish it because I really wanted to know what would happen with my favorite series…

The plot for me had no coherence and in some parts, it seemed like nothing fit together. Lots of scattered information and many open threads, of which unfortunately not enough were answered.

In this chaos, I felt like I didn’t understand anything. I read several parts again and again in case it was my problem but I don’t think so… The story took you from North to South and threw in the West as the cherry on top with an East, just for good measure.

Fortunately, Grim and Oro were in this book to save the situation a bit, although I would have preferred their lines to become more original at some point, with their own character and not just a copy of other fantasy books. As for Aila, I won’t say anything… better not…

Would I recommend you read it?
    I don’t know…
I’m really torn, as the first 2 books were excellent but this one…?
    I don’t know…

Fingers crossed for the author to come to her senses and give us back the series we loved so much
