The Insta360 Float Guard is a lightweight and practical protector that keeps the camera on the water’s surface in case of a drop, something essential for the Ace, Ace Pro, and action cams in general when working in the sea or a pool.
On the positive side, it is made of high-density foam, with low weight and a small size so it does not affect the grip or balance of the camera. The fit is secure and it doesn’t slip, although it is somewhat difficult to put on the first few times until it “opens up” slightly, and you need to be careful when removing it. The bright orange color helps it be spotted immediately in the water.
It offers real safety for water shots, does not weigh down the setup, and does not interfere in any way. It has proper cutouts for immediate access to all the camera’s buttons and screens.
On the negative side, it increases the camera’s bulk quite a bit, as I show you in the photos. It is not ideal for very dynamic shots in the water and of course it does not replace a proper waterproof housing. It is not possible to use the screen flip-out when the camera is inside the float guard.
Overall, it is an honest and useful solution for anyone who shoots often at sea and wants a simple but effective “life jacket” for their camera. Since the camera does not fit with a waterproof housing, also change the front mic cover to the waterproof one provided by Insta360, and if you use it at sea, give it a good rinse afterward.
If you use it at sea with the mouth mount, it may tire you out a bit because it will tend to rise toward the water’s surface. Also, the setup is ridiculously large, see photos.
In a previous review of mine, I forgot to mention that I use the same one on the Ace Pro and the Ace Pro 2. It fits, it just requires care when installing it.
Το Insta360 Float Guard είναι ένα ελαφρύ και πρακτικό προστατευτικό που κρατάει την κάμερα στην επιφάνεια του νερού σε περίπτωση πτώσης, κάτι απαραίτητο για Ace, Ace Pro και γενικά action cams όταν δουλεύεις σε θάλασσα ή πισίνα.
Στα θετικά του, είναι κατασκευασμένο από αφρώδες υλικό υψηλής πυκνότητας, με χαμηλό βάρος και μικρό όγκο ώστε να μην επηρεάζει το κράτημα ή το balance της κάμερας. Η εφαρμογή του είναι σταθερή και δεν γλιστράει, όμως μπαίνει κάπως δύσκολα τις πρώτες φορές μέχρι να "ανοίξει" ελαφρώς και θέλει προσοχή όταν την βγάζετε. Το έντονο πορτοκαλί χρώμα βοηθάει να εντοπίζεται αμέσως στο νερό.
προσφέρει πραγματική ασφάλεια σε υδάτινες λήψεις, δεν βαραίνει το setup και δεν επηρεάζει κάπου. Έχει σωστά κοψίματα για άμεση πρόσβαση σε όλα τα κουμπιά και οθόνες της κάμερας.
Στα αρνητικά, αυξάνει αρκετά τον όγκο της κάμερας, όπως σας δέιχνω στις φωτογραφίες. Δεν είναι ιδανικό για πολύ δυναμικές λήψεις μέσα στο νερό και φυσικά δεν αντικαθιστά ένα σωστό waterproof housing. Δεν είναι δυνατή η χρήση της ανάκλησης της οθόνης όταν είναι η κάμερα μέσα στο float guard.
Συνολικά, είναι μια τίμια και χρήσιμη λύση για όποιον τραβάει συχνά στη θάλασσα και θέλει ένα απλό αλλά αποτελεσματικό “σωσίβιο” για την κάμερά του. Δεδομένου ότι δε χωράει η κάμερα με waterproof housing, αλλάξτε μπροστά και το mic cover με το αδιάβροχο που παρέχει η Insta360 και αν την έχετε στη θάλασσα, καλό ξέπλυμα μετά.
Αν την χρησιμοποιείτε στη θάλασσα με το mouth mount, μπορεί να σας κουράσει λίγο επειδή αυτό θα έχει την τάση να έρθει προς την επιφάνεια του νερού. Επίσης είναι αστεία μεγάλο το setup, δείτε φωτό.
Σε προηγούμενη αξιολόγησή μου, ξέχασα να αναφέρω πως φοράω το ίδιο και στην Ace Pro και την Ace Pro 2. Ταιρίαζει απλώς θέλει προσοχή στην τοποθέτηση.
