This book is based on the study of the development of the mountain communities of Cyprus, which was conducted between 2017-2019 by the Laboratory of Agricultural Space of the Department of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and Regional Development at the Polytechnic School of the University of Thessaly.

It is a comprehensive work that includes: the diagnosis of the area, the strategy, and the operational plan, specialized in action plans.

This work contributes to the territorial planning of the development of marginalized areas, proposing a model of sustainable territorial development, tailored to the specific geographical conditions of the mountainous areas of the Mediterranean and Cyprus.

This model takes into account these conditions, the Cypriot political-administrative reality, as well as the visible or hidden potential of the mountain for its repositioning in the national, European, and international context.

The present edition is aimed at all those engaged in research and professional activities in spatial and developmental planning, particularly in rural areas and mountainous regions.

In the context of an interdisciplinary approach to territorial development and the organization of planning at all its stages, it presents on one hand the organization of the Territorial Diagnostic on an operational basis and on the other hand the assessment of "transfer-integration" interventions through Strategic Options.

Additionally, an interesting structure of operational planning is developed, where the primary goal is to focus on ensuring comprehensive and functional results.
