Description

During my research on the history of the province of Konitsa, which began in 1960 and intensified after 1998, I found, against all odds, numerous primary sources, consisting of archival documents and other texts, usually published and of small scope.

Based on these diagnostic sources, as well as a few secondary ones, I wrote the following books: The Province of Konitsa and Molista during the Ottoman Rule (2003), The Settlements of the Province of Konitsa in the Past (2015), From the History of the Province of Konitsa vol. A (2017), vol. B (2021), The Province of Konitsa and 12 of its Surrounding Villages in the Past (2023).

The narratives of these books are chronologically referenced: briefly in antiquity and the Byzantine period up to 1204, and more extensively during the periods of the Despotate of Epirus (1204-1430) and Ottoman rule (1430-1913), but occasionally also during the years 1913-1940.

The main subjects are as follows: periodization of developments, borders, settlements, and administration of the province, its geophysical features, roads and bridges, demographics (populations of settlements, nationalities, religions, etc.), agriculture and livestock farming, other professions of the inhabitants (builders, visual artists, carriers, etc.), construction projects, philanthropy, migrations of residents, ecclesiastical matters, biographical details of distinguished provincials, relationships of the province with Kosmas Aetolos and Ali Pasha, folk poetry about the province, and specific information about each settlement.
