The book examines the role of the media in modern referendums, especially those concerning the relationships of certain countries with the EU. It mainly analyzes the referendums in Ireland (2008), the United Kingdom (2016), Italy (2016), and Greece (2015).
Particular emphasis is placed on the Greek referendum, as this upcoming summer marks the 10th anniversary of its occurrence. For this purpose, the results of a survey on the stance of the media, which was conducted under the scientific supervision of the author with a team of collaborators, are utilized.
Subsequently, the contradiction between the stance of the dominant media, which strongly supported "Yes", and the stance of the electorate, which ultimately voted overwhelmingly in favor of "No", is analyzed.
