The A-Grammatik is an exercise book for students at the A1 and A2 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Suitable as both supplementary material for lessons and for self-study.

For a simple and understandable presentation of German grammar for beginners, the A-Grammatik includes only grammatical structures that are vital for levels A1 and A2. Emphasis is not placed on completeness but on the significance of grammatical phenomena for communication.

Each grammatical topic is organized as follows:

• An illustrated example to introduce the topic
• An overview of grammatical forms
• Notes on structures and usage
• Special notes on syntax
• Communicative exercises related to the topic

Diverse forms of exercises are offered for teaching and practicing grammatical structures, which include assignments, fill-in-the-blank texts, and guided formulations of sentences or texts. The exercises are connected to communicative contexts such as dialogues, emails, letters, or information from newspapers, and relate to everyday and professional situations, including vocabulary from both areas.

Rules, explanations, and tasks are also included with English translation. The book's table of contents includes additional pronunciation exercises for groups and partners to practice grammatical structures. It also contains lists of verbs and a thematic overview of exercises that serve to expand vocabulary and/or as prompts for speaking, as well as an index.

The A-Grammatik includes a detachable answer booklet and an audio CD with selected texts to assist with pronunciation.
