The Mortal Instruments: Graphic Novel Vol. 8 was a real delight for me – not only because I'm already a fan of Cassandra Clare's books, but also because their adaptation into graphic novel format is done with such care and respect for the original material that I can't help but love it equally. Graphic novels are narrative works that combine text and images, essentially "comics" with a more developed plot, often based on existing literary works or original stories. In the case of The Mortal Instruments, the graphic novels are a visual adaptation of the popular urban fantasy series, bringing the characters and the world of the Shadowhunters to life through impressive illustration.

This particular volume covers the second half of the fourth book in the series, City of Fallen Angels, and is full of tension, emotional conflicts, and a dark atmosphere.

The illustration by Cassandra Jean is excellent. The expressions of the characters, the battle scenes, as well as the calm, more tender moments, are rendered with intensity and detail. I feel that the graphic novel achieves something unique: it offers a new, more immediate and vivid experience to the reader who already loves the series, while at the same time serving as an excellent alternative introduction for those who haven't yet read the original novels. Clary, Jace, Simon, Isabelle, and Alec come to life on the pages in a way that moved me again, as if I were reading the story for the first time.

Even though I had already read and loved the original books, I can confidently say that the graphic novel series made me relive them with new enthusiasm. Vol. 8 in particular, being the beginning of the next trilogy, naturally a continuation of the first but the beginning of the end, is full of tension, emotional peaks, and well-crafted storytelling. If you're a fan of the world of the Shadowhunters or simply looking for a more visual way to experience an epic fantasy story, the graphic novels of The Mortal Instruments series are definitely an excellent choice.

For me, Vol. 8 was a strong and moving chapter, and the wait for the next volume is now great. If you love fantasy, action, and characters with depth, this series in any form – books or graphic novels – is absolutely a must.
