Insects, among the oldest organisms, are closely connected to the human species for both good and bad. Without insects that pollinate plants, the food supply for humans could not be ensured. On the other hand, other insects transmit epidemic diseases with enormous numbers of victims. However, here "The infinite number of insects" is examined from a linguistic, grammatical, and folkloric perspective. Our language has a great wealth of nomenclature from the world of insects, as well as a multitude of derived words and metaphorical uses. A great wealth related to insects is also found in modern Greek traditions, riddles, proverbs, spells, etc. Finally, the cultural references to the world of insects are impressively numerous and interesting.
