In the book at hand, the author presents, describes, and evaluates the presence and activities of the Greeks in the geographical area of the Mediterranean, the country's position and significance in its "neighborhood," its historical course, and its contemporary politics.
Geography, History, and Politics have outlined and determine the destinies of the country. Greece is a Balkan, Aegean, European, MEDITERRANEAN country and is politically positioned in the West.
The modern Greek state, in the sensitive yet significant geographical position it occupies, has faced challenges and threats due to its geography and centuries of history, with alternating periods of peace and adventures.
On one hand, there is the revenge of history, and on the other, the claim for geographical territory, combined with imperial ambitions that exploit the rise of nationalism, creating once again a threatening situation for Greece from Turkey.
This threat is clear and vital, as it concerns not only sovereign rights but also clear territorial claims and the questioning of international treaties.
