Dunestar is another great city in the Kingdom of Men, hosting a different culture from that of Aegis, more ancient and fierce in nature. Located on the banks of the Great River and surrounded by a scorching desert, Dunestar is an oasis where all doors are closed at night, to be opened again at dawn, out of fear of the dangers lurking in the dark.
For in Dunestar, the darkness is a literal source of the Blight, the endless material of tales as old as time that has led the inhabitants to surround the city with walls that can store sunlight during the day and keep it lit at night. From a distance, Dunestar appears like a dim glow, a symbol of hope as well as an easy target for the Blight.
Speaking of the Blight, it manifests more visibly in Dunestar than in Aegis through black shocks that can spread to all things, living or not, and the surrounding sands are now the grave of many warriors who chose to face their fear and bring the fight to the darkness itself.
The Locations of Dunestar are fully compatible with those of Aegis: this means you can mix and match Locations from with those found in the Guildmaster and Agent sets. Of course, you can also play a layout with only Dunestar Locations.
There are no new core game rules in the expansion, but each Location and Development adds its own twists and new mechanics to Edge of Darkness.
