The fateful voyage November 1924. The ocean liner Endeavour sets sail for New York with 2,000 passengers - and a murderer. When an elderly man is found dead at the foot of a staircase, the ship's officer Timothy Birch is preparing to report it as a tragic accident. However, James Temple, a strong-willed detective from Scotland Yard, insists that something dark lies behind this 'unfortunate' event. Birch agrees to investigate the case. Thus, they uncover the theft of a priceless painting, the existence of which was known only to its owner, who is now dead. Only a few days remain until their arrival in New York, and as suspicions begin to arise about why the Scotland Yard inspector is on the ship, Birch's investigation into the culprit brings forth continuous new dangers. Meanwhile, the passengers continue to roam carefree about the ship, while a killer is among them.
