Description

Most children come into contact with writing at a very early age, before they develop basic pre-writing skills, which are the foundation for mastering writing. They are called to directly draw letters and numbers without being familiar with the lines and shapes— which are the basis of letters and numbers— without having developed their fine and gross motor skills or having practiced movement and vision coordination, resulting later in difficulties, discouragement, and ultimately a negative attitude toward writing and literacy.

Writing, therefore, is a complex process, perhaps the most complicated skill a person has to learn, as it develops by combining cognitive, perceptual, and psychomotor abilities. Thus, in order for the child to master the skill of writing, and indeed in a fruitful and enjoyable way, they must first have mastered the basic pre-writing skills.

The book From the Dot to the Line aims to fill a significant gap in educational literature, functioning as an innovative tool for systematic and student-centered teaching, designed based on developmental stages. Through tasks based on the principles of playful and inquiry-based learning, each child will have the opportunity to engage with writing, mathematics, and art, using play, creation, and discovery as vehicles.

It includes clear and detailed instructions for the tasks, which can also be read by the children themselves, photographic illustrations, worksheets, as well as supplementary material for the educator or guardian.

Wonderful book! I highly recommend it to all preschool educators as well as parents of children aged 3-6. Once again, Kaly has created an amazing tool in the hands of all of us colleagues and parents, and we thank her warmly. We look forward to the continuation.

  • An amazing book that is miles away from the usual ones aimed at this age group. Truly, as a Kindergarten teacher and as a mom of a 3-year-old, I am happy to have it in my hands! I will use it both in the classroom and at home with my little one. I can't wait for the other issues to be released, and I suspect that we will really love them, both young and old... The ultimate writing learning tool with a beginning, middle, and end, which effortlessly helps the child to develop their skills and step by step conquer each next stage.
