My brother bought it and installed it in our yard. For years, our yard has been a thoroughfare for cats that relieve themselves in the grass. Since he installed it in the yard, I have only seen cat droppings in the grass once. It does absolutely nothing to deter dogs. During the very hot summer days, a large, furry stray dog would come into our yard and roll on its back in the grass, shedding hair, right in front of the device.
During the day, the device makes no sound. But as soon as it gets dark and it detects movement, a repetitive, piercing sound can be heard, while two LED lights flash brightly at the same time. One rainy evening, because it detected the rain as movement, the lights kept flashing continuously until the built-in battery ran out and it shut off completely.
