For those who study in depth for the National Examinations, it is a common understanding that these exams continually change over the years. And how could it be otherwise? Just as society evolves and changes, so too do the National Examinations.
If, for example, someone compares the Chemistry topics from 2004, 2014, and 2024, they will notice significant changes in their philosophy. A pivotal year for the Chemistry examinations was 2017. That year, there was a significant change in the philosophy of the topics, and for the first time, figures and diagrams were introduced. Since then, year after year, sometimes more subtly and other times more intensely, the topics have become more critical, and we see verbs like "explain" and "compare" in the prompts that were not present before.
We also observe a trend of de-mathematization of the topics. In this light, I felt it valuable to write a guide based on the modern direction of the National Examinations, as well as the philosophy of the New Curriculum of the Chemistry subject.
My 20 consecutive years of teaching in the 3rd grade, in various types of high schools (Vocational, General, Specialized, Experimental), as well as my direct involvement in the National Examinations from various positions, significantly aided in the completion of this project. A crucial factor has been my students, who over the years have provided me with motivation through their eagerness to learn.
The first volume of the book "Chemistry in the Modern National Examinations" is a resource for all candidates of General High Schools who will compete in Chemistry. I hope the book proves useful to those undergoing the demanding and psychologically taxing process of the National Examinations. May it help them better organize their study, clarify difficult concepts, and practice with topics of modern philosophy.
