This year marks 160 years since the publication of the work "Memoirs of the Greek Revolution of 1821" (Tripoli 1864) by the versatile and active Georginian by origin, Philhellene, and Fighter, Stefanos Io. Stefanopoulos (1790-1869). Representing the military faction, Stefanopoulos aimed to illuminate this perspective with ingenuity and passion, nearly four decades after the major event of the establishment of the first independent Greek state (1830).

The engagement with this specific memoirist began shortly before the 200th anniversary of the 1821 Revolution and was completed this year, aiming to highlight a relatively unknown protagonist who made his presence felt in the events of his generation.

Two pillars are emphasized in the emotionally charged narrative of Stefanopoulos. The first relates to the fear experienced by the conscripted villagers in the face of their Ottoman opponents. This fear led them to abandon their positions and flee in disarray. Theodoros Kolokotrones was considered the most suitable person to address this issue.

The second pillar relates to the education that all aspiring fighters must undergo in order to confront the Ottoman enemy. The goal was for them to be trained in the "killing" of the foreign enemy.

In these two cases, despair and absolute deadlock empowered those who found themselves "in dire need." A significant advisor in overcoming fear was the Elder of Morias, who testified after the battle at Valteci (12-13 May 1821) that "that war was the happiness of the Fatherland." A victory that provided the momentum and spirit for the capture of Tripolitsa on September 23, 1821.
