The books in the Chess Steps series are specially designed to ensure proper basic training for beginner chess players! For this purpose, their content includes basic theory, general specialized practice, as well as targeted exercises. At the same time, however, the books adopt an interdisciplinary approach to provide readers with broader knowledge.
This is the first volume, while the second, which completes the series, is already available.
The books are written by Stratos Grivas, a top chess player, coach, and author, with extensive experience in the chess field. The content and presentation are based both on his experience from the committees of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), the Trainers’ Commission, and Chess in Schools, as well as the experience he gained from his position as the Technical Advisor of the Hellenic Chess Federation (ESO).
In 2012, Stratos Grivas founded the 'Grivas Chess International Academy', primarily aimed at organizing chess education for schools (and generally for beginners) in Greece and Cyprus. The books in the “Chess Steps” series are the Academy's first work and constitute the main core of the provided education.
At the same time, this specific series of books is approved by both the Hellenic Chess Federation (ESO) and the International Chess Federation (FIDE). In fact, FIDE has sent it (in English) to all its member federations to be used as a basic guide in school programs.
