Description

Greek mythology regarding the five successive generations of humanity, preserved in the works of Hesiod and Plato, reflects the insightful view of the ancient Greeks on the evolution of mankind.

The first peaceful and innocent generation of humans, the "GOLDEN Race," which arose from the fertile earth and lived under the rule of Cronus, was succeeded by the second generation, the "SILVER Race," consisting of ignorant people who did not worship the gods and lived in a matriarchal regime. This was followed by the third warlike and barbaric generation, the "BRONZE Race," which signifies the relentless decline of the original human innocence, succeeded by the fourth generation, the "DIVINE HEROES," demigod heroes representing an effort to transcend and elevate humanity from the select few who followed the difficult path.

The fifth and final burdensome generation, the "IRON Age," is the degenerated and corrupted humanity, overwhelmed by selfishness, desire for power, arrogance, and brutality: "And then towards Olympus, far from squares and streets, covering their beautiful appearance with their white veil, abandoning humanity forever, Aidos and Nemesis will leave and ascend to the world of gods. What will remain will only be bitter suffering, a lot for the outcast mortals, and there will be no salvation for their miseries."

It is impressive to realize the human fate, the social and moral decline, even in ancient fiction. Hesiod's wish was that he would not represent the fifth generation. We, who probably do represent it, should hope for a sixth generation.

The book "The Decline of the West and the Rise of the East" by Eleni Savvaki records the most significant events of recent decades and contains a wealth of information regarding the goals and actions of the great powers in the modern world. —Nikolas Igklesis, Journalist-Writer

The analysis of the landscape is particularly original as it does not limit itself to simple narration but delves into the causes, purposes, goals, results, predictions, and ongoing developments of the BRICS. Simply put, Eleni Savvaki "made history," in the tradition of Thucydides.

—Apostolos Georgopoulos, Regents Professor, University of Minnesota

This book serves as a scientific treatise suitable for teaching in higher education institutions, especially those with departments in international relations and geostrategy, as the elements presented compile a puzzle of historical events and future developments. —Janetos Gouskos, Economist-Writer

An excellent and ambitious work that attempts to illuminate the turmoil of the international system on an unstable path characterized by the retreat of the West, new alliances in the East, and regional conflicts. —Ioannis Mzis, Emeritus Professor of Economic Geography and Geopolitical Theory
