Description

Every year, Graf-Von Faber Castell celebrates a special moment. The Pen of the Year.

Each limited edition tells stories of eras and peoples that shaped the history of humanity. In 2023, with the Pen of the Year, we will take a "dive" into the depths of history and encounter one of the most fascinating and progressive cities in the world. This year's Pen of the Year is inspired by ancient Egypt and its history, which spans over 3,000 years, its gods and goddesses, mythology, and achievements.

Due to an exciting natural phenomenon, the people called their land Kemet (meaning "Black Land"): Every year, during the summer months, the land often flooded with the dark sand of the Nile, which fertilized the soil. This black, fertile land near the Nile was the home of a progressive state in North Africa, from which the Kingdom of Egypt with its pharaohs, pyramids, gods, and decorative symbols depicted in the Pen of the Year emerged.

Since the Pen of the Year is full of surprises, Graf Von Faber Castell has created something unique: For the first time, it offers a deep blue, radiant ink, in a decorated small inkpot to provide a unique writing experience.

Inspired by lapis lazuli, "Egyptian Blue" is one of the earliest colors created by humans. The container is adorned with the crown cap of Nefertiti and the mask of Tutankhamun. The dark blue was considered a divine color, combined with gold, in ancient Egypt. Even today, dark blue colors are seen as very elegant and are a popular choice in royal residences.
