Description

Description

The physical, economic, demographic, environmental, and other phenomena that exist and evolve in the geographical space entail different geographical behaviors and manifestations of these, which are represented by spatial patterns.

These reflect the existing geographical differentiations or regional inequalities in a geographical area. This book, structured with mathematical logic but without the analyses and details of a mathematical treatise, and with numerous examples, serves as a simple yet powerful "tool" and simultaneously a comprehensive scientific manual for the analysis of geographical space.

Its structure is designed so that the reader-researcher can easily understand and approach the dynamics of statistical concepts and methods. The quantitative and qualitative variables that describe the mentioned geographical phenomena are analyzed with the help of univariate and multivariate statistical methods, which form the basic foundation for the geographical analysis of an area.

Since this pertains to a defined geographical space, the mapping of phenomena makes their distributions clear, i.e., it illustrates their behaviors and clarifies the existing spatial patterns. The book emerged after many years of research and teaching in the Department of Agricultural and Rural Engineering of Α.Π.Θ., at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

It targets geographers, surveying engineers, civil engineers, spatial planners, urban planners, environmentalists, as well as other scientists in the fields of natural and social sciences, as well as undergraduate and graduate students from all scientific disciplines.
