I would not like to write now a text about the evolution of the mustache in classical Greece, or in the outdated Greece, which was under the continuous occupation of the Macedonians, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Slavs, the Venetians, the Albanians, and the Ottomans.
The mustache, like many other things, follows the fateful ups and downs of the Greek people. The Greeks of the archaic and classical eras did not have mustaches. The facial hair of males adhered to two rules: either all unshaved (that is, beards-mustaches in their natural state), or all shaved.
Apparently, the Greeks first saw simple mustaches (on shaved cheeks) when the Gauls invaded their country.
