As part of the celebration of the Moomins' eightieth anniversary in 2025, attention is drawn to the book "The Moomins and The Great Flood," which offers the first glimpse into Moominvalley. Tove Jansson wrote this first Moomin story in 1945, after World War II, and although it is a fairy tale for children, it vividly highlights the displacement of refugees throughout Europe at that time.

A global campaign on Moomin.com will celebrate eighty years of the Moomins with the motto "the door is always open," emphasizing Jansson's timely message of kindness and inclusion towards those forced to leave for safety.
