The Clue Giver must guide the Guessers to identify a Secret Card by playing other cards from their hand as Clues. There are two types of Clues: Elimination Clues (cards played horizontally, which have something in common with one or more cards that the Guessers should eliminate) or Preservation Clues (cards played vertically, which have something in common with one or more cards that the Guessers should preserve).
For example, the Secret Card is the Assassin. You can play the Evil Scientist as a Preservation Clue, to indicate to the Guessers that the characters that should be preserved are human, do not have supernatural powers, or wear something white. Or, you can play the Swamp Monster as an Elimination Clue to indicate that the characters that should be eliminated are animals, green, or related to water… understanding what the Clue Giver is trying to indicate depends on the Guessers!
