The bark comes from Portugal and has been heat-treated and steam-sanitised. The outer surface of the pieces retains water and nutrients, while their inner structure remains hard and stable.

The growing medium has balanced pH and stable EC, so it can be used straight from the package without an initial rinse. Beneficial microorganisms multiply as the bark matures, while the material does not break down in the pot.
