The success of the previous two editions and the rapid progress of Medical Science, particularly in the fields of pathogenesis, new classification, and especially in the therapeutic management of many diseases, necessitated the third edition of the textbook "Basic Pediatrics." The addition of this knowledge and certain new chapters/subchapters, along with the inclusion of many new authors who collaborated on the new edition, makes it a modern textbook, comparable to the best corresponding foreign texts.
