    Lenses with a focal length of 80-135mm on full frame, 50-75mm on crop frame, and 120-180mm on medium format are ideal for portrait photography as they allow for photography from a moderate distance and flatter the subject's features.

    Greater focal lengths are used for wildlife photography, sports events, and generally any subjects where a large distance is required.

Versatile super-telephoto performance. An excellent choice for sports and wildlife photography. The 100-400mm zoom range brings you closer to distant subjects and allows you to react quickly to rapidly changing situations. When used on cameras with APS-C sensors, it offers viewing angles equivalent to those of a 160-640mm lens on a full-frame camera.

The lens delivers high sharpness and contrast images, thanks to Fluorite and Super UD lens elements that tackle distortion. The three-mode Image Stabilizer protects against blur caused by camera shake, allowing you to shoot handheld at shutter speeds up to 4 stops slower than usual.

Air Sphere Coating (ASC) technology provides protection against flare, ghosting, and reduced contrast. ASC technology uses multi-layer coating to reduce reflections, as well as an air sphere layer to gradually slow down light as it enters the lens.

Different photographers work in different ways. Use the Zoom Ring Adjustment to set the resistance when using the lens zoom. Enjoy fast USM autofocus that locks on accurately and almost silently.
