Description

The 2nd, fully revised edition of "Maritime Law" was deemed necessary following the recent legislative reform of private maritime law with Law 5020/2023 (new CSD). The legislative changes have been subject to systematization, interpretation, and analysis, without losing the connective thread with the long evolution of maritime law, in a way that makes the axes and applications of the reform understandable.

The revision of the edition extends to all recent literature and case law that have emerged since the 1st edition, utilizing these in light of the new CSD. It also encompasses the analysis of international maritime conventions as well as EU rules, aiming to record new trends at both international and European levels (e.g., green shipping).

Furthermore, two new core sections are added: on the one hand, Maritime Assistance and on the other hand, Maritime Labour (based also on the author's experience as a member of the ILO Expert Committee).

This work now covers the entirety of Private Maritime Law, from the concept and status of the ship and the static shipbuilding to real securities, from chartering and maritime transport to the risks of maritime shipments, maritime labor, specific liability and limitation regimes, and EU maritime law.

Undoubtedly, it serves as a reference point for lawyers and legal practitioners, academics and researchers, judicial officials, shipping company executives, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and anyone generally drawn to the allure of maritime law.
