Before the premiere, you never say "Good luck!", because it's said to be very unlucky. If you're English, you say "Break a leg!" If you're Italian, you say "In bocca al lupo!" Here in Greece, holding onto an old French tradition, we say "Scata!", or in French, "Merde!"

But the issue isn't the premiere... The issue is how you get there. How is theater "made"? How does "inspiration" come? What do all these artists do in rehearsal? And who (doesn't) pay for all this?

"Cultured" directors, "commercial" actors, "promoters" and producers of old and new styles, theater critics, glorious "ghosts" of the past, and innocent spectators, all pieces of a puzzle, a "Babylon" searching for a solution in the undeclared war of the Art of Theater: "Commercial" vs. "Quality", Comedy vs. Drama, Popular vs. Intellectuals, Art vs. Showbiz...

Why do we do theater in the end? "For the money" or "for our souls"?
