The Mont Blanc amaryllis bulb produces large, single white flowers with a subtle greenish or yellowish tint at the centre. Each flower measures 18–20 cm in diameter, while each flower stem reaches 50–60 cm and usually bears four flowers. Flowering typically begins 6–8 weeks after planting in a warm indoor space.
Plant in autumn, from October to December, in a position in full sun. Place the bulb with one third above the soil and water sparingly at planting time. Once the first green shoot appears, water only when the surface soil has dried out, as waterlogging can cause the bulb to rot. In areas with frost, planting in a pot is preferable so it can be moved to a sheltered spot. The plant and its bulb are toxic to people and pets if ingested.
