Max Factor, synonymous with makeup, was founded in 1909 by Polish-born Max Factor (real name Maximilian Faktorovich). During Hollywood's golden age, stars on screen mentioned only one name, and that is Mr. Max Factor, the visionary makeup artist. Max Factor was born in Russia and immigrated to America in 1914, settling in Los Angeles. The reputation of Max Factor's expertise and artistry quickly spread, and soon he collaborated with top Hollywood movie stars. He created his own cosmetics that created a captivating look on the silver screen. In 1916, he began selling eyeshadows and eyebrow pencils, available beyond the film industry.
