This work is divided into two parts. In the first part, titled "The Knights of Saint John," which takes the form of a historical narrative—where myth coexists with historical reality—the reader's attention is drawn to the social, economic, and historical environment of the age of the knights, namely the "monk/soldiers of Rhodes," with an emphasis on their national and class composition, the formation of the central administration, the literary activities and visual arts that prevailed during that time, the economic and ecclesiastical organization, as well as the preparation of the two opposing forces and the events of the two sieges of the city of Rhodes (in 1480 and 1522) by the Turkish invaders.
In the second part, titled "The Medieval City of Rhodes," which takes the form of a travel tour, a virtual exploration is conducted (following specific routes):
- In the historic streets.
- The significant buildings.
- The fortifications.
- The commercial harbor.
- The Palace of the Grand Master (with a detailed description of the content of each visitable room separately) in order for the reader to have as complete an image as possible of the medieval city of Rhodes.
