The publication of the Therapist's Diary coincides with the completion of 30 years of operation of the Laboratory for the Exploration of Human Relations, founded by Haris Kataki in 1984.
In the Diary, the author invites the reader on a unique journey, during which she reveals the unknown aspects of a therapist's life and exposes the most critical components that over the years have formed her therapeutic approach.
Thus, among other things, the reader will learn the significance of our connection to our genealogical and cultural roots in order to connect the links of our personal chain and find ourselves; alongside the author, the reader will revisit the critical turning points of their personal journey when they were called to make decisions about their profession, marriage, and life.
They will ponder the tragically dual nature of their daily language, where they often say one thing and mean another. Mainly, however, all of this will be seen through the prism of a therapist: the author has long questioned the need for distance between therapists and clients, building bridges of communication between them and abolishing the image of an all-powerful, distant, and neutral therapist.
With the Diary, Haris Kataki embarks on a distinct journey, leaving behind traces that the reader can follow to open their own closed doors and find themselves in their own clearings. The Laboratory for the Exploration of Human Relations has been active in the field of mental health for 30 years. It is a globally recognized center for Mental Health and Counseling, with a large and continuously expanding interdisciplinary staff.
It provides services to individuals, professional therapists, educators, and organizations, with educational programs and supervision in Athens and other cities in Greece. It is actively engaged in research and publishing, conducting many seminars, workshops, and conferences.
