The History of the Greek Language: from its beginnings to the late antiquity was designed and implemented by the Centre for the Greek Language and published by the Institute of Modern Greek Studies.
The design responsibility was held by Professor of Linguistics at the University of Thessaloniki A.-F. Christidis. This is a collective work consisting of 127 texts, contributions from approximately 80 Greek and foreign researchers.
It examines the historical trajectory of ancient Greek from Indo-European to late antiquity, placing it within the triptych of language-history-culture. The work begins with an Introduction, where the editor examines the historiography of the Greek language, followed by 9 sections.
