Description

The LDT0-028K is a flexible component consisting of a 28 µm thick PVDF film with silver paste printed electrodes, coated on a 0.125 mm thick polyester substrate, and features two pressed contacts. As the piezoelectric film moves away from the mechanical neutral axis, bending creates very high deformation within the piezopolymer and high voltages are generated. When the unit is twisted through direct contact, the device acts as a flexible "switch," and the generated output is sufficient to directly trigger MOSFET or CMOS stages. If the unit is supported by its contacts and allowed to oscillate "in free space" (with the inertia of the locked/free beam creating bending stresses), the device will behave as an accelerometer or vibration sensor. Adding mass or changing the free length of the element through locking can alter the resonance frequency and the sensor's sensitivity to suit specific applications. Multi-axis response can be achieved by offsetting the mass. The LDTM-028K is a vibration sensor where the detection element consists of a beam with resonance loaded with additional mass to provide high sensitivity at low frequencies.
