I love it to death, a book that at first will make you wonder if it's a romantic book or a mystery book?? This particular book was a bit challenging to read at first, it flowed with slow but very, very deliberate rhythms! It was exactly what was needed to provide all the necessary information in its first part, so that the second half comes and makes you wonder why it took you so long to get there??? And suddenly the pages fly one after the other and the plot goes from good to better and better! It makes you wonder, to put yourself in someone else's shoes, to think what would you do?? Have you ever "loved to death" and would you "love to death" someone? And what does love to death entail?? Mmmmmm difficult questions, but this book will put you in there to read them and wonder what you could do and how far you could go for those you love to death, your own or theirs perhaps?? Wonderful Claire Theodorou in her genre once again!!

Description & Specifications

Copenhagen, December 21, 2021

In a warehouse, the contents of which are going up for auction, there are twelve large black suitcases. Inside them are twelve dismembered female bodies.

Hamburg, December 26, 2021

The corpse of a young woman is found inside a discarded suitcase. She has been killed by her own father, as he informs the authorities by phone before committing suicide.

How is it possible for someone to kill the person they love the most in the world, and even do it unknowingly?

Inspector Rupert Killer and his partner, Daniella Tso, are urgently called to Hamburg. They will soon realize that sometimes the murderer is merely a pawn and that memory loss can also be a blessing.

Because ghosts are much more destructive when they continue to live. Especially when the “conductor” holds the strings of the “cosmic balance” in their hands.

Genre: Crime Thriller

Atmosphere: Dark, suspenseful, and full of twists, with a gripping psychological background.

In the book, you will encounter

The dark side of love and human psychology when boundaries are crossed.

Cases of disappearance and dismembered bodies that are mysteriously connected.

An inspector and his partner chasing a case that goes beyond simple criminality.

Why we loved it

For the intense suspense and the chilling scenes that captivate you from the first page.

For the deep characters and the unexpected revelations.

For the atmosphere that intricately weaves crime, memory, and guilt.

This book is for you if…

…you like modern crime thrillers with unpredictable developments and a chilling atmosphere, that do not shy away from touching on the darker aspects of the human soul.

"...He held his breath as the second warehouse opened. And indeed, only the two of them stood in front of its door. Katrina and him. Him and Katrina. Just one look was enough to convince him. He had to acquire this warehouse. At all costs! Because this warehouse was different from any other he had ever seen, and only a few could be described as such. Unlike all the previous ones, this warehouse was not crammed. It did not contain old furniture, clothes, or useless electrical appliances. It had no decorations, heirlooms, or family photos. It didn't even have boxes. It only had suitcases.

Twelve large black suitcases. The symbol of the American dollar flashed inside him along with that of the Danish krone and the European euro. If one large suitcase could hold six million dollars, then what could twelve such suitcases contain? ..."

In the end, the whole thing was just another addiction. And Sven, at fifty-two, knew all about addictions. Of all the ones he had tried, this particular one was probably the least dangerous. This trend had come straight from America, like so many others, and Sven had thrown himself into it from the very first moment. After all, it was the closest thing he could think of to gambling, which had defined his life for years. Or rather, to call things by their name, had ruined his life; he had lost everything. Whatever money hadn’t been eaten up by weed and all kinds of pills before had vanished in illegal casinos and underground gambling clubs. And along with that, everything else was lost too. The little house by the water, inherited from his grandfather, the camper van they used to take on holidays with Freya – Freya with the wonderful red braids and the freckles that dotted every inch of her almost translucent body – and of course Nils. Whom the court had forbidden him to see before the child had even turned three.
