Linden and its beneficial properties

• Calming, relaxing: Combats tension and anxiety. It can act as a mild sedative for neurasthenic, hysterical, and hypochondriac patients.
• Antispasmodic: Relieves headaches, colds, coughs, and runny nose. Helps with migraines and nervous vomiting.
• Sweat-inducing: Acts as a mild antipyretic.
• Diuretic: Dissolves uric acid and is therefore used for arthritis, rheumatism, and gout. It has good results against diabetic uremia.
• Other actions: Works against dropsy, cystitis, constipation, indigestion, and obstructions of the spleen and liver. It is believed to contribute to the dissolution of kidney stones. Combats abdominal gas. Used for sciatica and lumbago.
• For external use: Its decoction smooths facial wrinkles and freckles. Washing hair with it tones and helps their growth. Bathing with the decoction helps with children's spasms and fatigue.
• Side effects: Linden has diuretic properties and therefore, in patients already receiving diuretic treatment, it may increase the risk of dehydration. Linden may increase lithium concentration in the blood.
• How we can incorporate it into the diet:
  • As an infusion, it combines excellently with chamomile and lemon balm.
  • As a children's decoction, in the early stages of childhood infections, such as chickenpox.
  • As a tincture: The fruits, preserved in vinegar and salt (like capers).
