The Horrible Guild Spotlight board game is a cooperative hidden-object game in which players search for strange characters and objects in dark scenes with the help of a flashlight. The goal is to move their pawns along the path and reach the finish line before the Moon pawn catches up with them. The game lasts five rounds, and everyone wins together if all players reach the finish line without being caught by the Moon.

Each player has a different board, with a transparent top sheet showing part of the scene and a black paper background. In each round, a card determines which image players must find. When the sand timer runs out, players say how many objects they think they found; the more they spot, the farther their pawn moves. They can use boost tokens to move a pawn that has been overtaken back ahead of the Moon.
