Many years after the death of its creator, the compositional work of Dimitris Mitropoulos is experiencing a revival, with a series of performances, recordings, publications, and musicological studies. Dimitris Mitropoulos, until recently mentioned mainly as a conductor of the 20th century, is now also recognized as a composer. His contribution to the artful Greek music creation is undergoing a radical re-evaluation and is beginning to claim the position it deserves.

This study is the first monograph dedicated to Mitropoulos's compositional work, focusing specifically on his two piano sonatas:
