COMPOSER'S NOTE
The work "SUITE FOR MEDEA" was initially written as a musical accompaniment to the play of the same name by Jean Anouilh (from the ancient tragedy), which was staged by an amateur student theater group from the University. I was captivated by the entire plot of the play, and it mentally transported me to that ancient, mythical, heroic era. I allowed myself to be ecstatic, to imagine, to see the images, and to hear the sounds and pulses of this fascinating tragedy.
Thus, after an introduction, I imagined the CHORUS before love, LOVE, EXCITEMENT, COMPLAINT, relaxation- LULLABY, the mystical calm of NIGHT, the colors and sounds of DAWN, and the EPILOGUE. In my mind, I had the sounds of ETERNAL GREECE, as I subjectively imagined them. That is why in the same book, on the same disc, I wanted to include my sonata titled "GREEK SONATA," in which I again had as a guide our Greek musical tradition. I chose the violin and guitar because these sounds matched my imagination for these works.
