In the last seven years, since the first edition of the book, various developments have occurred in the study of topics related to the Pontic lyra:

• New books were published for teaching the Pontic lyra and the history of bowed musical instruments.
• A doctoral dissertation was completed in Romania based on the history of the Pontic lyra and the music associated with it.
• I personally taught the current method to students of various ages and levels.

The observations on teaching the lyra and the new information collected on the history of the instrument are included in the second edition of the book.

During the seven-year period, negative aspects were also identified in teaching with the current method.
