The book is written by Gabriel Yared, the composer of the musical themes for the films The English Patient, Cold Mountain, and The Talented Mr Ripley. It includes 22 original pieces for cello, designed to inspire and encourage collaboration between teacher and student. The idea stemmed from Gabriel Yared's personal teaching experience, highlighting the need for one part written for the experienced teacher and another for the developing student. The duets progress from beginner to advanced level, gradually addressing new technical challenges while offering variety and interesting music. The accompanying CD includes a full recording of each duet as well as two alternative versions for playing along, focusing on each part. The publication includes individual parts, completing a package that has been developed, composed, and produced with a completely original approach to learning cello duets.
